How Sysadmin Works
The Mobile Sysadmin solution enables your IT personnel to access your IT infrastructure remotely at any time and at any place. They can now check the network and server status from a restaurant even at midnight. The Mobile Sysadmin solution even allows to you to remotely start software programs and processes in order to solve problems. The following tasks are covered:
- Wireless alerts in case of network or server problems via SMS and GPRS
- Automated watchlists for monitoring network and mail servers
- Fully automated or manual status requests (ping, netstat, etc.)
- Automated or manual mail server monitoring (SMTP checks)
- Automated or on-request IP port scans
- Mobile SNMP monitoring
- Remote execution of OS commands (running tasks and programs, e.g. server restart via mobile phones)
Access to the network monitoring and administration can be done simply via SMS or more conveniently using the message master™ Mobile Client which utilises SMS or GPRS for mobile communication
Components
The complete Mobile Sysadmin solutions consists of the following components:
- message master v6 server (Basic, Standard and Professional Versions) which is used as the central mobile communication point
- A combination of a mobile device based on Windows CE (Windows CE 3.0 / 4.0) and a GPRS phone or GPRS- and Java-enabled mobile phone (with J2ME, e.g. Motorola Accompli, Siemens SL45i) message master™ Mobile Client as mobile terminal software
- Permanent Internet connection or GPRS access point within your corporate network
